Staff Accountant

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Compensation: $65,000 – $90,000 base salary (competitive within the SLC market)

Role Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the finance team with day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Key Responsibilities

• General Ledger & Reporting: Prepare and post journal entries; maintain general ledger accounts accurately.
• Reconciliations: Perform timely reconciliations of bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and sub-ledgers.
• Month-End Close: Support month-end and quarter-end close activities including accruals and adjustments.
• Financial Analysis: Analyze accounting data to identify trends, variances, or discrepancies.
• Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with other departments to gather data and resolve accounting issues.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 1–3+ years of accounting experience (public or private) preferred
• Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage)
• CPA or working toward certification is a plus
