AWS Infrastructure & Security Engineer
Level: Senior Location:
Location: Remote (Europe & MENA)
Working Hours: Part-time (with a view to full-time)
Reporting to: Head of Engineering
About the Role We're hiring a security-first infrastructure expert on a social media platform experiencing hyper growth. We're building a social media platform and the infrastructure underneath it needs to be bulletproof. This role starts at half-time with the expectation of growing into a full-time position as the company scales. You live and breathe AWS and you know that in a consumer-facing product, infrastructure security isn't optional — it's existential. You've built and secured cloud environments before, you know where the vulnerabilities hide, and you don't cut corners.
What You'll Do
- Own the design, implementation, and maintenance of an AWS infrastructure
- Lead all cloud security efforts — threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and incident response
- Manage IAM roles, policies, and permissions across the AWS environment
- Implement and maintain security best practices including encryption, logging, and monitoring
- Work closely with the engineering team to ensure security is baked into every feature before it ships
- Evaluate and onboard AWS-native and third-party security tooling where needed
- Build an infrastructure that is secure, scalable, and cost-efficient from day one
What Success Looks Like
- A well-architected AWS environment that is secure, stable, and audit-ready
- Zero high-severity security incidents resulting from infrastructure vulnerabilities
- Engineering teams have clear guardrails and are shipping without creating security debt
- Infrastructure costs are monitored and optimized as the platform scales
- A security posture in place that can grow with the company without needing a full rebuild
What You Are
- An AWS expert with deep hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure and security
- Proficient with AWS-native tooling — IAM, GuardDuty, CloudTrail, Security Hub, and similar
- Someone who has worked in a startup or high-growth environment before
- Comfortable owning the entire infrastructure and security function independently
- Someone who treats security as a first principle, not an afterthought
What You Are Not
- Someone who needs a large DevOps or security team around them to get things done
- Someone who is reactive when it comes to security threats and vulnerabilities
- Someone who prioritizes speed of delivery over the integrity of the infrastructure
