Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled API Integration Specialist to join our Global Technology Services team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and securing enterprise-grade APIs that connect complex, high-volume systems. This position focuses heavily on leveraging Google Apigee for API management, utilizing Python for backend development and automation, and integrating with Apache streaming and integration technologies to ensure robust, real-time data flow across our global infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• API Management: Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable API proxies, policies, and integration workflows using Google Apigee.
• Backend Development: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code and integration scripts using Python (and relevant frameworks like FastAPI or Flask).
• Data Integration: Implement and manage asynchronous messaging, event-driven architectures, and data pipelines utilizing Apache Kafka or Apache Camel.
• Security & Compliance: Enforce enterprise API security standards, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and role-based access controls within the API gateway.
• Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams, enterprise architects, and technology leadership to deliver high-performance, reusable integration assets.
• Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor API traffic, troubleshoot production integration issues, and optimize routing and latency to ensure high availability and reliability.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Core API Skillset: Proven experience hands-on with Google Apigee (API Gateway, Edge, or X) managing full lifecycle APIs.
• Programming: Strong proficiency in Python for backend development and system integration.
• Apache Ecosystem: Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka (for streaming/event-driven architecture) or Apache Camel (for enterprise integration patterns).
• Protocols & Standards: Deep understanding of REST, JSON, Web Services, and HTTP/HTTPS protocols.
• Security: Solid grasp of API security mechanisms, specifically OAuth, JWT, and SSL/TLS.
• Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and CI/CD deployment pipelines is highly preferred.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in enterprise application integration (EAI) or API development, preferably within a regulated or financial services environment.
