Project Manager — Banking Payments & Program Delivery
About the Role
We're hiring a Project Manager on behalf of our client, a global financial technology leader, to drive delivery on a banking payments program in downtown Toronto. This is a hands-on delivery role: you'll own program execution across internal teams and globally distributed partners, keeping a complex payments program moving from milestone to milestone.
This is a delivery-execution role — you are the person who makes the program ship on time. You will not own the product roadmap or write requirements. What sets this seat apart is domain: you already know how ACH works and how a sponsor-bank relationship operates, and you bring that knowledge into the delivery plan rather than learning it as you go.
Logistics
- 6-month rolling contract, ~40 hours/week
- Hybrid — 3 days onsite, downtown Toronto (200 Bay)
What You'll Own
-
Delivery Execution: End-to-end program delivery — milestones, dependencies, risk management, and keeping execution on schedule across the program.
-
Payments Domain: Operate fluently in ACH — origination, settlement windows, returns and exceptions, and the operating rules the program runs under. Understand the delivery impact when a rule, cutoff, or file format changes.
-
Sponsor Bank Program Management: Run delivery inside a sponsor-bank structure — program agreements, bank-side approvals and oversight, compliance and risk reporting cadence, and a clean escalation path between the program and the bank.
-
Stakeholder Orchestration: Manage a stakeholder map of 30–50 people across business, operations, compliance and risk, engineering, and program leadership — alignment, communication cadence, and clean escalation paths.
-
Global Team Coordination: Run delivery across globally distributed teams — managing time zones, handoffs, and cross-site dependencies without dropping threads.
-
Engineering Coordination: Drive delivery cadence with engineering teams — sprints and releases, blockers, and capacity — working through technical leads.
What You Bring
- Proven track record delivering complex programs end-to-end — you can point to what you personally owned vs. coordinated, and the outcomes.
-
Strong banking background with hands-on ACH knowledge — you've worked on programs where you understood the transaction lifecycle, settlement, and return handling, not just the reporting on top of it.
-
Sponsor bank experience — you've operated inside a sponsor-bank relationship and can explain what the bank owned, what it required of the program, and how that shaped delivery.
- Financial institution experience — you've operated inside FI or fintech environments and understand how they work, including how compliance and risk sit inside a delivery plan.
- Experience managing large stakeholder maps (30+) across multiple geographies and seniority levels.
- Experience running delivery across globally distributed teams.
Nice to Have
- Direct experience on card programs, gig-economy payout platforms, or embedded finance products.
- Exposure to payments modernization or real-time payments initiatives.
- Experience absorbing regulatory or network rules changes into a live delivery plan.
