The Opportunity
Jenkins Plumbing and Heating Co is seeking a highly skilled Master / Lead Plumbing Technician & Journeyman Specialist to execute complex residential and commercial plumbing installations, diagnostic troubleshooting, and system repairs across Pleasantville and the surrounding South Jersey market.
In this senior field technical role, you will take full operational ownership of service calls, boiler/water heater installs, piping retrofits, and commercial utility connections across private accounts and municipal public works projects. Working with an established, family-oriented mechanical contractor built on craftsmanship, you will benefit from steady year-round work with no seasonal layoffs. Key Responsibilities
- System Installation & Maintenance: Install, repair, and maintain complex commercial and residential plumbing systems, gas lines, hydronic heating loops, and drainage networks.
- Diagnostic Troubleshooting: Diagnose pipe leaks, fixture malfunctions, sewer line blockages, water heater failures, and pressure imbalances efficiently and accurately.
- Multi-Material Piping Proficiency: Cut, thread, solder, braze, and press multi-material piping systems—including copper, PEX, PVC, CPVC, cast iron, and black iron gas piping.
- Code Compliance & Blueprint Reading: Read and execute directly from architectural blueprints, isometric drawings, and plumbing schematics; ensure all work adheres strictly to New Jersey state plumbing codes and safety standards.
- Customer Stewardship & Communication: Provide outstanding customer service—explaining mechanical issues clearly, presenting repair options, and maintaining clean work zones.
- Fleet & Equipment Care: Maintain company vehicles, power drain augers, press tools, and diagnostic equipment in clean, operational condition.
- Mentorship & Apprentice Guidance: Guide and mentor junior apprentices on proper trade safety, piping techniques, and code regulations.
What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)
Required
- Extensive Industry Tenure: Minimum 10 years of verified hands-on experience in residential or commercial plumbing installation, service, and repair.
- Code & Technical Mastery: Deep knowledge of plumbing codes, backflow prevention, venting rules, drainage design, and diagnostic techniques.
- Physical Endurance: Ability to perform active trade labor—working in crawl spaces, on ladders, and lifting heavy equipment (up to 75 lbs).
- Mobility Credentials: Valid Driver License with an insurable driving record to operate company-provided service vehicles.
- Tool Assets: Must possess basic hand tools and personal plumbing trade hand tools.
Preferred
- License Credentials: Active New Jersey Master Plumber License, Journeyman Plumbing License, or Backflow Prevention Certification.
- Specialized System Experience: Background in tankless water heaters, commercial boilers, or underground wet utility repairs.
