Job Overview

  • Company: Engineered Comfort Systems (ECS)
  • Salary/Pay Rate: $25.00–$55.00+ per hour, based on knowledge and experience
  • Location: Taylor, MI /  Projects throughout Southeast Michigan
  • Job/Employment Type: Full Time
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, On-call rotations, Overtime and weekends as needed
  • Project Scope: Commercial and Industrial HVAC / Building Automation Controls
  • Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: EPA HVAC Certification, Valid Driver's License

The Opportunity

Keeping controls online is part of the role; owning the continued improvement of system performance, sequence quality, documentation, and verified customer outcomes is the standard. ECS is looking for a BAS controls professional who sees the entire system - field devices, wiring, controllers, networks, sequences, HVAC operation, commissioning, and the customer's experience. You will install, integrate, troubleshoot, and improve the systems that keep complex commercial and industrial facilities operating.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Install and service BAS controls for boiler plants, chiller plants, rooftop units, air-handling equipment, cooling towers, VAV systems, and related commercial/industrial HVAC equipment.
  • Install low-voltage control wiring, Ethernet and communication wiring, switches, routers, controllers, sensors, relays, transducers, actuators, and control panels.
  • Build and install customer control panels for HVAC control applications.
  • Support PC- and IP-based integration with building automation systems.
  • Configure, test, commission, and start up DDC control systems.
  • Troubleshoot new and existing control systems, HVAC operation, sequences, field devices, and communication networks.
  • Verify that the sequence works in the real building - not only that the controller is online.
  • Communicate findings, risks, status, and next steps clearly to customers, project teams, and ECS leadership.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on commercial or industrial HVAC controls experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, sequencing, design, and operating applications.
  • Proven troubleshooting ability across HVAC systems and BAS controls.
  • EPA HVAC certification and a valid driver's license.
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
  • Availability for after-hours work, overtime, weekends, and on-call rotation as required.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience with Tridium Niagara and BACnet communication networks preferred.
  • Basic computer skills; PC- and IP-based controls experience is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly pay of $25.00-$55.00+, based on knowledge and experience.
  • Steady, year-round work on complex systems plus 100% employer-paid employee medical coverage, with dental and vision options.
  • 401(k) with company match, paid time off, holidays, travel per diem, relocation assistance, and tuition reimbursement.
  • Continuous technical training, manufacturer certifications, OSHA, fall-protection, and lift training.
  • Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement; uniforms, safety gear, smartphone, and tablet provided.
  • Performance-based opportunity to grow into broader technical, mentoring, lead, or field-leadership responsibility as roles become available.

Work Schedule and Location

  • Full-time, Monday through Friday, with on-site installation and service work throughout Southeast Michigan.
  • On-call rotation, overtime, and weekends as needed.
  • Southeast Florida project travel or relocation opportunities may be available based on business needs and mutual fit.
