Commercial Construction Estimator – Lead Federal and Commercial Pre-Construction Nationwide for North Georgia Civil Inc.

The Opportunity

You will own the pre-construction phase for high-profile federal and commercial programs across the United States. Working directly with executive ownership, you will leverage a modern, AI-assisted estimating toolset to drive project success from initial drawings to bid day. This autonomous role empowers you to make a significant impact on a rapidly growing company's pipeline and strategic direction.


How You Will Make an Impact

  • Analyze complex project drawings and technical specifications to construct comprehensive, highly accurate cost estimates.
  • Develop detailed material quantity takeoffs, labor breakdowns, and equipment pricing matrices using advanced digital toolsets.
  • Identify hidden pre-construction liabilities, permit fees, and utility expenses prior to final bid submission.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate competitive subcontractor bids to secure full scope coverage at optimal price points.
  • Shape competitive bid strategies with executive leadership to maximize profit margins while maintaining a high win rate.
  • Turn over clean, well-documented budgets and scopes to project managers and engineers to ensure seamless field execution.
  • Maintain a clean, consistent digital folder structure and historical cost database to continuously improve estimating accuracy.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of dedicated estimating experience specifically within commercial, civil, or telecom construction.
  • Proven proficiency interpreting blueprints, civil/structural drawings, architectural specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and risk-management skills paired with precise attention to detail.
  • High proficiency with digital takeoff software and modern cloud-based estimating platforms.
  • Absolute willingness to travel 10–35% multi-state for bid walks and site visits.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed to work directly with owners, subcontractors, and design teams.


Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Prior experience estimating federal or government work for agencies such as the USPS, GSA, or DoD.
  • Experience estimating wireless or telecom infrastructure projects.
  • Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Construction Cloud, Smartsheet, BuildingConnected, PlanHub, and Google Workspace.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Comfort and enthusiasm for adopting new technology, specifically AI-assisted takeoff workflows.
