Title: Recruitment Advertising Media Buyer

Location: Remote (US)

Type: Full-time

Reports to: Luca Malacrino, CEO and Chris Cundari, COO

Compensation: $78,000–$100,000 base, DOE, plus performance-based bonus

About the Role

The Contractor Consultants spends approximately $200,000 per month advertising open roles across job platforms, currently routed through the third-party aggregator. Indeed has made clear it wants advertisers managing spend directly rather than through aggregators, and we're already seeing application volume soften — a sign Indeed's own tools are getting more competitive at our expense. This is a dedicated, hands-on role: the primary mandate is to move our Indeed spend in-house and run it directly, so we're not caught flat-footed if the third-party aggregator relationship degrades further. This is not a research or evaluation role — we need someone who has done this before and can start running direct Indeed spend from day one.

What You'll Own

  • Take direct, hands-on ownership of TCC's Indeed advertising spend — this is the core of the role, not a side project
  • Manage and optimize a monthly job-advertising budget of $200,000+ across platforms, with Indeed as the immediate priority and ZipRecruiter and others following
  • Build and maintain the direct working relationship with Indeed's account team — budget negotiations, access to their native targeting/AI tools, and staying ahead of policy changes
  • Lead the transition of Indeed spend off the third-party aggregator (Jovio) and onto direct platform management, with a clear plan and timeline
  • Track and report on performance daily/weekly: cost per applicant, cost per hire, application volume and quality, and budget pacing by role and location
  • Reallocate budget across platforms and job postings based on performance data, in coordination with the recruiting team
  • Build clean, readable dashboards/reporting so leadership always has visibility into spend efficiency
  • Partner with recruiting and hiring managers to understand which roles are hardest to fill and prioritize spend accordingly
  • Stay current on job-board platform changes (Indeed, ZipRecruiter, LinkedIn Jobs, Appcast, Jovio, etc.) and flag risks or opportunities early

What We're Looking For

Hard floor: Candidate must have personally managed at least $100,000/month in ad spend. This is a non-negotiable minimum, not an aspirational target — anything below this bar is an automatic pass regardless of other qualifications.

  • Proven, hands-on experience running Indeed advertising campaigns yourself — Sponsored Jobs, budget/bid management, day-to-day optimization — not just familiarity with job platforms in general
  • A track record managing a six-figure monthly Indeed budget specifically, and doing the work yourself rather than overseeing an agency or aggregator that did it for you
  • Staffing or recruitment agency background specifically — has managed ad spend across a portfolio of 1,000+ concurrently open jobs, not a handful of campaigns. Running a high-job-count portfolio is a fundamentally different skill than single-campaign buying, and that distinction matters
  • Knows how to optimize toward qualified applicants and submissions, not just raw application volume — Indeed's algorithm defaults to optimizing for applications, which produces a lot of low-quality junk volume if left unchecked
  • Comfortable working inside Indeed's platform limitations — its native reporting and controls are limited compared to third-party tools — and experience building your own workarounds: manual tracking, spreadsheets, scripts, or outside software layered on top
  • Direct experience working with Indeed's account team — budget negotiations, escalating issues, staying ahead of policy/product changes
  • Fluent with performance data — cost per applicant, cost per hire, conversion/apply-rate — and confident making Indeed budget calls from it
  • Strong Excel/Sheets and dashboarding skills, ideally used to compensate for Indeed's limited native reporting
  • Clear, concise communicator — this role reports on results directly to executive leadership
  • Comes in fully ramped — this role does not include structured training on the underlying ad platforms or systems; day one is execution, not onboarding

Nice to Have

  • Working knowledge of other job platforms (ZipRecruiter, LinkedIn Jobs) and programmatic/aggregator platforms (Appcast, Jovio, Recruitics, Joveo) — useful context, but secondary to Indeed-specific expertise
  • Experience transitioning a company off a third-party ad-management platform onto direct, in-house management
