Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Senior Tax Manager for our Business Tax Services team. In this role, you will lead complex corporate tax compliance, structuring, and advisory initiatives. You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership (or clients), identifying tax-saving opportunities, mitigating risk, and ensuring absolute alignment with evolving local, state, and federal tax laws. Beyond technical execution, you will be a critical leader—mentoring a team of tax professionals and scaling our tax operations through technology and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tax Compliance & Review

Federal & State Compliance: Oversee and review complex federal and state income tax returns for corporations (C-Corps, S-Corps) and partnerships (LLCs).

Tax Provision (ASC 740): Lead or review the quarterly and annual income tax provision process, including financial statement disclosures, uncertain tax positions (ASC 740-10), and valuation allowances.

International Tax Integration: Coordinate with international tax specialists to ensure seamless reporting of cross-border transactions, transfer pricing, and foreign reporting requirements (e.g., Form 5471, 8858).
2. Strategic Tax Planning & Advisory

M&A and Restructuring: Provide tax due diligence and structuring advice for mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate restructurings.

Tax Optimization: Proactively identify, research, and implement tax planning strategies to minimize the overall effective tax rate (ETR) and optimize cash flow.

Audit Defense: Act as the primary point of contact for federal, state, and local tax audits, drafting technical responses and negotiating resolutions with tax authorities.
3. Team Leadership & Operations

Mentorship & Development: Manage, mentor, and build a high-performing team of Tax Managers, Seniors, and Associates, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Process Automation: Drive the adoption of advanced tax technology tools (e.g., Alteryx, specialized tax software) to automate repetitive workflows and reduce compliance cycle times.
Qualifications & Skills
Required Education & Experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Certification: Active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential is required. A Master's in Taxation (MST) or J.D./LL.M. is highly preferred.

Experience: 8+ years of progressive tax experience in a public accounting firm (Big 4 or regional) or a large corporate tax department. At least 3 years in a dedicated management/leadership capacity.
Technical & Soft Skills

Deep ASC 740 Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of US GAAP accounting for income taxes.

Tax Software Proficiency: Advanced experience with corporate tax software (e.g., CorpTax, OneSource, UltraTax) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).

Communication: Exceptional ability to translate dense, complex tax code into clear, actionable business insights for non-tax executives.
