Position Overview:

This is a temporary-to-hire role, fully onsite in Marina del Rey. Hybrid and remote candidates will not be considered.


The HR Manager supports day-to-day human resources operations while partnering closely with finance and leadership to ensure compliance, accurate reporting, and best-in-class employee practices. This role blends core HR responsibilities with accounting exposure, including payroll coordination, reconciliations, and workforce reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, people-focused, and comfortable operating at the intersection of HR, compliance, and finance.


Key Responsibilities:

Human Resources Operations

  • Support and administer core HR functions including onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and policy implementation
  • Ensure HR policies and procedures align with current employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, and payroll
  • Assist in performance management processes, employee engagement initiatives, and talent development programs
  • Partner with leadership to support workforce planning and organizational needs

Payroll, Accounting & Reconciliations

  • Collaborate with payroll and finance teams to ensure accurate payroll processing and reporting
  • Perform payroll and benefits reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly HR-related accounting entries, accruals, and reporting
  • Maintain accurate employee records impacting payroll, benefits, and financial reporting
  • Support audits by providing HR and payroll documentation as needed

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations, including the FLSA, California Family Rights Act (CFRA), Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), ADA, and FMLA
  • Maintain HRIS data integrity and support reporting for headcount, turnover, compensation, and benefits
  • Assist in the preparation of HR metrics and financial summaries for leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-6 years of progressive experience in HR, with exposure to payroll, accounting, or finance functions
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices, California employment law, and compliance requirements
  • Hands-on experience with payroll processing, reconciliations, and HRIS systems
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner cross-functionally

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a multi-state or fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of GAAP concepts as they relate to payroll and benefits
  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) or accounting coursework a plus
  • Experience supporting audits or working closely with finance teams
