Position Overview

A respected wealth management firm is seeking an Estate Planning Attorney to join its growing advisory team. This role will work closely with financial advisors and high-net-worth clients to develop and implement sophisticated estate planning strategies designed to preserve and transfer wealth across generations.

The ideal candidate will serve as a trusted advisor, providing guidance on complex estate structures, tax-efficient wealth transfer strategies, and legacy planning. This individual will collaborate with internal advisors as well as external tax professionals and attorneys to deliver comprehensive planning solutions for clients.

Key Responsibilities


Estate & Wealth Transfer Planning

  • Advise clients on estate planning strategies including wills, trusts, gifting strategies, and wealth transfer planning
  • Develop sophisticated estate planning structures for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families
  • Provide guidance on estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning

Client Advisory

  • Partner with financial advisors to deliver integrated financial and estate planning solutions
  • Meet with clients to review estate planning objectives and recommend appropriate strategies
  • Assist clients with implementing estate plans in coordination with external counsel when necessary

Trust & Estate Strategy

  • Draft or review estate planning documents including revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives
  • Provide guidance on trust administration and fiduciary considerations
  • Identify planning opportunities related to charitable giving, family entities, and generational wealth transfer

Collaboration

  • Work closely with advisors, tax professionals, CPAs, and outside attorneys to implement client strategies
  • Support advisors in client meetings requiring estate planning expertise
  • Provide education and planning insights to internal advisory teams


Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in Tennessee or ability to obtain licensure
  • 5+ years of estate planning or private client experience
  • Strong experience working with high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth clients
  • Deep knowledge of:
  • Estate and gift tax planning
  • Trust structures and administration
  • Wealth transfer strategies
  • Family entity planning (FLPs, LLCs, etc.)
  • Exceptional communication and client relationship skills


Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience in private client services, estate planning law, or wealth management advisory
  • Familiarity with advanced estate planning structures (GRATs, SLATs, IDGTs, charitable trusts)
  • Experience collaborating with financial advisors or family offices
