This is a strategic leadership role for someone ready to own a firm's tax practice, not just manage it. You'll set direction for engagements, tax technology, workflows, and tax season planning, while serving as a technical advisor to clients and a mentor to the tax team.
What you'll do:
- Lead strategic planning and execution for tax season, timelines, and department goals
- Schedule, supervise, and review engagements while building strong client relationships
- Advise individual and business clients on complex tax matters
- Stay ahead of changes in tax law, codes, and regulations
- Review complex returns and resolve high-level tax issues
- Improve realization and utilization metrics using the firm's time and billing data
- Develop and mentor tax staff, seniors, and managers
- Identify new service opportunities and grow existing client relationships
What you'll bring:
- CPA required; Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance required, Master's in Tax preferred
- 10+ years of tax experience in public accounting, including time as a Manager or Senior Manager
- 5+ years leading and developing a team
- Advanced expertise across business, individual, trust, and nonprofit tax
- A track record of coaching high performing tax professionals and driving strategic growth
