We are seeking an experienced Trust & Estate Attorney to lead our growing Private Wealth Practice. This is a high-impact leadership role ideal for an attorney who thrives on building client relationships, managing complex estate matters, and serving as a trusted advisor to high‑net‑worth individuals and families. You will be the primary point of contact for referrals coming into the firm and will shape the strategic direction of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
Practice Leadership:
- Lead and develop the Private Wealth Practice, including strategic planning, workflow management, and growth initiatives.
- Serve as the primary attorney for all incoming trust and estate referrals.
- Mentor junior attorneys and staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal referral sources, external partners, and centers of influence.
Client Advisory & Legal Work
- Advise high‑net‑worth clients on estate planning, wealth transfer strategies, charitable planning, and business succession.
- Draft, review, and implement complex estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advanced planning structures.
- Oversee trust administration, probate matters, and related fiduciary issues.
- Provide guidance on tax implications related to estate and gift planning.
- Manage sensitive family dynamics with discretion, empathy, and professionalism.
Business Development
- Cultivate new client relationships through referrals, networking, and thought leadership.
- Represent the firm at industry events, seminars, and community engagements.
- Collaborate with marketing and leadership to enhance the firm’s visibility in the private wealth space.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school; active bar membership in Georgia.
- 8+ years of experience in trusts and estates, private wealth, or related practice areas.
- Strong technical knowledge of estate planning, trust administration, and relevant tax laws.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex client matters with minimal oversight.
- Proven leadership experience and interest in building a practice.
- Exceptional communication skills and a client‑centric mindset.
- Ability to handle confidential information with the highest level of integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning.
- Experience working with high‑net‑worth and ultra‑high‑net‑worth clients.
- Existing referral relationships or a portable book of business (not required but valued).
