Our client, a well-established and growing organization in the northeast metro Atlanta area, is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations and play a key role in the accuracy and reliability of the company's financial reporting. Reporting to the Controller, this person will oversee core accounting functions, contribute to strategic finance initiatives, help strengthen internal controls, and step in for the Controller as needed.


This is a fully on-site role, five days per week, at the company's administrative office.


What You'll Do

Accounting Operations

  • Run day-to-day accounting activity across the general ledger, AP support, cash management, and account reconciliations
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries in line with company policies and procedures
  • Own monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations, both preparing and reviewing
  • Keep the general ledger clean and resolve discrepancies quickly
  • Help drive the month-end and year-end close to deliver accurate, timely financials

Financial Leadership Support

  • Partner with the Controller on the broader accounting function and financial operations
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Build and refine accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Spot opportunities to streamline and automate processes within the department

Audit & Compliance

  • Support external audits by preparing schedules and pulling requested documentation
  • Handle auditor requests and keep audit deliverables on schedule
  • Maintain accurate records for regulatory and industry filings
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal accounting standards

Analysis & Reporting

  • Produce ad hoc reports and analyses, including expense trends and operational reporting
  • Turn financial data into recommendations that inform leadership decisions
  • Assist with cash flow monitoring and financial planning efforts

Team Leadership

  • Mentor and guide accounting staff, fostering accountability and continuous improvement
  • Work cross-functionally with operational leaders to support company goals
  • Take on special projects and other duties as needed


What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close and financial reporting
  • Prior supervisory or management experience preferred
  • Strong command of general ledger accounting and GAAP
  • Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, financial reporting)
  • Experience with Sage or a comparable ERP/accounting system
  • Sharp analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Able to juggle multiple priorities and hit deadlines in a fast-paced, growing environment
  • Proven leadership, strong work ethic, and exceptional attention to detail
