About the opportunity
DataFielder is hiring on behalf of a venture-backed AI company headquartered in New York City. Founded in 2019, the company has grown to roughly 80 people, raised about $60 million, and now serves more than 1,000 enterprise customers, including Fortune 500 retailers, national home services brands, and large homebuilders.
Their product applies AI to the conversations that happen in the physical world, the ones that never get captured by software. Field sales teams, in-home consultations, and on-site conversations get recorded, transcribed, analyzed, and turned into coaching. Millions of salespeople work offline every day, and almost none of that work is measured. That is the problem this team is solving.
This is a large intake. The client is hiring 10 to 15 engineers, so if you are strong and the timing is right, there is room.
What you will do
• Build and ship full stack product features end to end, from an idea to production, fast.
• Own new features from scratch as the technical roadmap moves forward. There is very little planning overhead here, and a lot of trust.
• Talk to real users. The customers are not software people, they work in the field, and understanding them is part of the job.
• Raise the quality bar for the codebase and for technical decisions. Early engineers here set the patterns the rest of the org will inherit.
• Grow as fast as the company does, and help hire the engineers who come after you.
The stack
• TypeScript across the stack, React and React Native on the front end, Node.js on the back end
• Python, PostgreSQL, Turborepo, Zod, Lodash
• AWS, Terraform, Spacelift, GitHub Actions
What we are looking for
• 0 to 3 years of professional software engineering experience. Strong new graduates are welcome to apply.
• Production experience with TypeScript and React.
• Backend experience with Node.js, and comfort with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
• Solid computer science fundamentals, whether that came from a degree program or from building things.
• A track record of shipping. Internships at a high-bar company, work at an early-stage startup, or real projects that real people used.
• The ability to move fast and iterate without letting quality slip.
• A customer-first instinct, and genuine interest in talking to the people who use what you build.
Nice to have
• React Native, or any mobile experience
• Python
• Hands-on AWS deployment and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CDK, Pulumi)
• Experience at a small, talent-dense startup, or building something 0 to 1
• Founder or co-founder experience, hackathon wins, entrepreneurship programs, or a venture fellowship
Being straight with you about the environment
This is an in-person team in New York City, five days a week, and the days are long. The culture is intense, feedback is fast and direct, and people are expected to take real risks and own the outcome. That suits some engineers extremely well and it is the wrong fit for others. If you are looking for remote or hybrid, this is not the role, and we would rather tell you now than three interviews in.
Compensation and benefits
• Base salary: $193,000 to $258,000, depending on experience and interview performance.
• Equity: Competitive equity grant.
• Health: Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
• Time off: Unlimited PTO.
• Daily life: Lunch and dinner provided, gym membership paid, commuting covered.
• Growth: Learning stipend.
• Visa sponsorship: Available
Location
New York, NY. On-site five days per week. This role is not remote and not hybrid.
How to apply
Apply through this posting or send your resume, GitHub, and anything you have built to DataFielder. A DataFielder recruiter will run a short screen, and if it is a fit, we will prepare you for the client's interview process and represent you directly.
