Senior IT Technical Business Analyst

High Tech Genesis builds software that keeps telecom, cloud, and high-tech products shipping. As Senior IT Technical Business Analyst you turn complex stakeholder needs into clear, testable requirements so our Ottawa delivery teams ship on time and our clients stay ahead. Your analysis directly reduces rework, accelerates releases, and proves why HTG is trusted for mission-critical engineering.

Performance Objectives

  • Elicit, document, and baseline requirements for at least two concurrent client engagements within the first 90 days, cutting clarification cycles by 30%.
  • Translate business processes into user stories, acceptance criteria, and data-flow diagrams that developers and testers can execute without ambiguity.
  • Facilitate backlog refinement and sprint planning so committed work meets Definition of Done and client SLAs every iteration.
  • Identify and close gaps between legacy systems and target architectures, producing traceability matrices that survive audit.
  • Lead UAT and defect triage, driving first-pass acceptance above 90% on assigned features.
  • Quantify process improvements (cycle time, defect leakage) and present recommendations that clients adopt within one quarter.

Environment & Resources

You report to the Delivery Lead and partner daily with architects, developers, QA, and client product owners. You work in Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, and Visio/Miro; client tools (SAP, Oracle, custom stacks) are provided. Projects are hybrid Ottawa/remote with dedicated sprint capacity and access to senior technical mentors.

Essential Qualifications

  • 7+ years as a technical business analyst on software or IT transformation programs, including 3+ years in a senior or lead capacity.
  • Proven ability to model processes, data, and interfaces (BPMN, UML, or equivalent) and write testable requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum delivery and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong SQL and API/integration literacy sufficient to validate data mappings and edge cases.
  • Excellent stakeholder facilitation in English; French an asset for Eastern Ontario clients.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Role Selling Points

  • Work on real product-engineering programs—telecom, cloud, embedded—not generic back-office IT.
  • Small, high-skill teams (51–200) where your analysis is seen by architects and clients, not buried in process.
  • Exposure to cutting-edge stacks (cloud, DevOps, test automation) while staying close to Ottawa’s tech community.
  • Equal-opportunity employer that accommodates and values diverse perspectives.
