Survey professionals at CBS² support a variety of public and private projects through accurate data collection, research, mapping, documentation, and technical expertise. Depending on experience, opportunities may involve field surveying, drafting, boundary analysis, right-of-way work, project management, client coordination, quality review, or department leadership.


Our survey team works closely with engineering, architecture, construction, and project management professionals to provide accurate and dependable information throughout the life of a project.


Potential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with or lead field surveys for boundary, topographic, construction, right-of-way, utility, and infrastructure projects.
  • Collect, process, review, and interpret survey data.
  • Prepare or review plats, maps, exhibits, legal descriptions, and survey documentation.
  • Research property records, deeds, easements, right-of-way information, and historical survey data.
  • Utilize survey equipment, GPS technology, data collectors, CAD programs, and related software.
  • Establish or verify control points, property corners, benchmarks, and construction staking.
  • Coordinate survey activities with engineers, architects, project managers, clients, agencies, and contractors.
  • Assist with project scoping, scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.
  • Perform quality reviews to support accurate and complete deliverables.
  • Communicate findings and project information to clients and internal teams.
  • Support the training and development of survey technicians and field staff.
  • Maintain safe and efficient field practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

We welcome survey professionals with a variety of educational and professional backgrounds. Relevant qualifications may include:

  • Education, technical training, coursework, or professional experience related to land surveying, civil engineering technology, geomatics, geography, drafting, construction, or a related area.
  • Interest or experience in survey fieldwork, technical production, project management, professional land surveying, or team leadership.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to work outdoors and travel to project sites when applicable.
  • Ability to safely perform the physical requirements associated with field surveying when applicable.
  • Valid driver’s license for roles requiring travel or fieldwork.
  • Professional Land Surveyor licensure or the ability to pursue licensure when appropriate for the opportunity.


Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience with boundary, topographic, construction, right-of-way, control, or transportation surveying.
  • Familiarity with Civil 3D, MicroStation, Trimble, Leica, GIS, or other survey-related tools.
  • Knowledge of Wisconsin or Minnesota surveying practices, statutes, and recording requirements.
  • Experience preparing legal descriptions, plats, maps, and survey exhibits.
  • Experience managing survey projects, clients, schedules, budgets, or field crews.
  • Interest in mentoring, technical leadership, client development, or department growth.
